JHS Baseball

Joplin High School Baseball has a rich heritage of success and looks forward each year to continuing that tradition. Joplin Baseball boasts 11 Conference titles and 8 district titles. Since 1994, five trips to the final four have resulted in: 1994 runner up; 1995 runner up; 2000 4th place; 2001 State Champions and 2003 runner up. Numerous athletes have moved on to play at the collegiate level, with a few going on to the majors.

Baseball Tryouts Information

Baseball Head Coach: Kyle Wolf kylewolf@joplinschools.org

Tryout Dates: February 26-February 28

Time: 4:00pm-7:00pm

Location:  JHS Baseball Field (Weather Permitting.  Will move indoors if inclement weather).  

Required equipment:  Glove, Bat (Not Required), Catcher's Equipment (not required to try out as a catcher)

Dress: Baseball Hat, Cleats/Turfs, Baseball Pants with a Belt, T-Shirt or Long Sleeve T-Shirt (If wearing a short sleeve T-Shirt at least 3/4 inch sleeves are required if the temperature is below 70 Degrees), a jacket, sweatshirt, or hoodie is highly recommended. 

Other Information: tryouts will be scheduled from 4:00 to 7:00 with final cuts being made on Wednesday, February 28th.  The tryout will be a Pro Style tryout that will include evaluation on the 5 Tools of Baseball (Speed, Power, Hitting, Throwing, Catching), overall athleticism, and the ability to perform baseball skills and movements.

Tryouts & Season
Baseball season is in the spring with tryouts in late February. The season culminates with district and state play in early June. Joplin Baseball is willing to travel and plays a tough schedule each year. The team travels to Oklahoma, Kansas, Arkansas, and the St. Louis area to find teams to play.

Facilities
Baseball home games are played on the brand new, all turf baseball field at Joplin High School.

Summer Camps
Summer camp opportunities are offered for 9th – 12th grades as well as the players assisting with elementary and middle school camps.
